Strangest Places

John 11:16;  Matthew 23:27,28
'This beckoning God
calls to the strangest places',
thought Thomas the Twin.
'Let us go too, and die with him.'

Back to the place of rejection,
to the heart of darkness,
a dead man's tomb,
to heartache
and only the tiniest flicker of love
in that sea of bitter hatred?

Thomas spoke what I scarcely dare to think.
Easier to follow to places of light and joy
than to a tomb.

And the darkest, foulest tombs
within.
