‘Hello World’ – how DO writers talk, anyway?

Welcome to ‘Writerstalk’ – feel free to make notes, and provide feedback. When this blog was conceived, it seemed there was (is?) a need for writers to have a place to share their thoughts with

Editing posts

no fear of a blue pencil making edit tracks on what was being said/written. And where would a writer turn to find a sympathetic ear, listen to another opinion, share a phrase or two to get a ‘feel’ for how it sounds, how best to phrase a thought?    For example,

I have been turning certain thoughts over and over in my head lately, trying to express my feelings in a way that truly carries the weight of my conviction. I have a friend who is in failing health. This is undoubtedly a result of advancing age, and I can but watch and agonize as I realize that a frail body cannot withstand the tick tock tick of merciless time. Over the years, a healthy diet and regular exercise has contributed to building a healthy human body. “Money in the bank’, one might think. And now that bank account is being drained…

Regarding coinage: how does one pay a debt of gratitude? An act of kindness is worth how much? What value a smile? A kind word? Compassion is never one’s due; it feels good to spend the coinage of friendship, where the currency is of shared experiences rather than just the small change of pleasantries. Make no mistake, nor attempt to barter false sentiment for true; false coinage is immediately known. Friendship can not be feigned, and a counterfeit coin is immediately seen as such.

What is written above is original, perhaps of little value in and of itself, but offered as an example of what one might wish to share. A small dialogue, a short description of something, anything – and where we go from here is pretty much up to you. What feedback might you give, concerning the thoughts expressed here? Do you have similar writings, phrases, descriptions that you would like to share, get an opinion on?

What would you like to see here, what are your thoughts regarding your own writing, your challenges, frustrations, joys, successes, your writing experience? We would like to hear from you…
